Quebec girl unharmed after attempted kidnapping

The Canadian Press

MONTREAL — Police are looking for a man in his forties after an alleged kidnapping in the Quebec town of St-Sauveur on Friday.

The suspect allegedly forced a 12-year-old girl into a white or light grey car around 5:45 p.m.

Quebec provincial police say that once the man had the girl in the car, he drove the streets surrounding the town for roughly 30 minutes.

The girl was able to flee when the man briefly stopped the vehicle. She then called police from a nearby phone booth.

Police questioned her Friday night.

Quebec provincial police spokesman Gregory Gomez Del Prado said the girl was unharmed and that “for now, we're taking this seriously.”
